STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) is a large focus at Cornerstone Christian School. Working within science, technology, engineering and math students grow critical thinking skills and 21st century abilities. Our art program focuses on development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness. Student self-esteem is built as they create. Our music program teaches the foundations of piano, singing, and sound. Theater and public speaking are taught through deliberate, weekly instruction.
STEAM
Our STEAM Lab provides problem-based learning for our students. STEAM students have opportunities to be problem solvers, risk takers, critical thinkers and innovators by taking positions on real world problems. By working through a combination of learning strategies, they discover the nature of a problem, understand the variables involved and gain a perspective viewpoint of those affected. Students also participate in a number of unique field experiences every year. Students at CCS get to spend multiple hours a week in our world-class STEAM Lab, working with top-of-the-line technology and materials.

At CCS our art teachers use a variety of mediums to expand students creativity and knowledge of arts. Students learn from the history of the great artists. Visual arts teach about color, layout, perspective, and balance: all techniques that are necessary in presentations (visual, digital) of academic work. Students who participate in the arts are more likely to do well in math and science and be involved in civics. They benefit from social-emotional learning that helps them manage their emotions, be aware of themselves and succeed later in life. CCS holds art a foundation to all learning, and we expect to continue to grow our art program.
Music
Music skills are shown to increase students’ reading and academic success for students. At CCS students are taught the fundamentals of music theory, how to play the piano, sing in a choir, and put on musical performances.
